Based on a critically acclaimed short story by Adam Mars-Jones, Startling Analysis is a satirical film about psychoanalysis and provincial adultery.
The film is led by a narrator who humorously examines a suburban myth as it unfolds:
Claire unexpectedly returns to the family home to discover Harry, her husband, noisily misbehaving with another woman. She herself makes no noise, leaves, and returns at her usual time. She then drugs Harry’s dinner, strips him, superglues his hand to his penis, and goes to bed. The following day Claire takes Harry to the hospital where he must undergo both humiliation and surgery.
Shown at the London Zero film festival, 2017.
